I love doughnuts. Those round doughy sweet treats I consume during special occasions and my days off. My favourite are those chocolate doughnuts and I am sure you have your own favourites. Lately I have been making doughnuts with matcha green tea powder. We all love matcha green tea now lets try something different and take a bite out of it.
Green matcha doughnuts make for amazing treats since they will satisfy your sweet tooth and provide you with lasting energy. You will feel great after consuming these baked treats.
I like to bake my doughnuts because they are simple to make and you just need a donut pan. also, i find that baked doughnuts are easier to make than muffins and cupcakes. I dont know about you but i dont like to stay in the kitchen for too long. making doungnuts from matcha tea powder is fun and easy for me. It only takes a couple of minutes to do the mixing with a hand whisk. The baking takes about 10 to 13 minutes. I also use a recipe that includes coconut oil which makes my green matcha donuts nice and tender.
Since green matcha is a powder it can be easily used in a lot of recipes. A simple tablespoon or so added to home recipes gives the fine taste of green matcha and adds to the flavor. Matcha green tea has a natural bitter taste of its own and it can blend in well with deserts.

Ingredients

For the donuts:
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar (I used unrefined sugar)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp matcha green tea powder
2/3 cup melted coconut oil
1/2 cup lukewarm milk
1 large egg at room temperature , whisked
1/2 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp vanilla extr

Instructions

For the donuts:
Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray a donut pan with cooking spray. Set a side.
In a bowl mix together flour, sugar, salt, baking soda and matcha green tea powder.
In a separate bowl combine coconut oil, milk, egg, vinegar and vanilla.
Mix wet and dry ingredients until combined. Do not over mix. I find that it’s better to use a spatula.
Transfer the batter to a piping bag and squeeze into donut pan. Fill each slot 3/4 full. Bake donuts for 10-12 minutes. Cool donuts completely after baking.
There you have it. You can use matcha green tea powder in so many ways. Doughnuts made from green matcha will make a great addition to your choice of deserts, they will taste great and most important of all they are good for you!
